A: Any email addresses that are issued by an educational organization will be considered a valid school email address. However, we understand that some schools do not issue email addresses to their employees. It is ok to use a personal email in this case, but we will examine the genuinity of the submitter before giving them school accounts.
A: In your current setup, there is 1 teacher account with “Plus” privileges. The student accounts have “Basic Privileges”.
After upgrading, all accounts will have “Plus” privileges. These include unlimited character creation, unlimited video length (currently limited to 2 min duration), extended text-to-video credits and the ability to import images.
In addition, the teacher accounts gain extra functionality, such as subdividing the student accounts into classes and workgroups, sharing characters with the students, and pre-moderation (the ability to evaluate student videos before they are published).
A: On Sept 1, 2011, the distinction between TeacherPlus and SchoolPlus was eliminated.
All new subscribers are simply GoAnimate4Schools subscribers, and have all of the privileges of the former SchoolPlus accounts. Existing TeacherPlus accounts will be “grandfathered” with their current privileges through Aug 31, 2013. Existing TeacherPlus accounts wishing to upgrade before that date should contact us for a quote.
A: GoAnimate4Schools is an entirely private space for you and your students to let your creativity flow. A quiet place for your students to enjoy what’s great about online creation tools, without the dangers of being out in the open Web. On GoAnimate4Schools both teachers and students get full access to all our tools. No virtual currency needed.
A: We are sorry that due to privacy concern, we will not allow users to download their animations; however, if you would like to publish your animation to the outside world, you can embed the video and publish it onto any webspaces (blog, forum, school websites etc..).
A: Educators use GoAnimate4Schools in many ways, from creative writing to practicing language skills. Our animation studio is highly flexible and let’s you create shorter or longer skits, as well as use text-to-speech or voice recording for the characters. With our character creator, your students can even create custom heroes for their stories that look like themselves or popular figures. Our Quick Apps also allow you to quickly type a dialog or record your voice and generate a skit in a few minutes.
By providing a very open set of tools, we hope that every educator can find creative ways to use GoAnimate4Schools with their students. Check out our lesson gallery to see example of teacher created videos.
A: When you register on GoAnimate4Schools, you get your own private login page that you and your students use to access our site. Everything published within this environment is only accessible to you and your students.
What’s more, you can choose to moderate all the animations created before they are published and even create groups so that older students’ work cannot be seen by younger students for example.
A: By default, we set permissions so that all content created on your school platform gets moderated before being published. This ensures that no inappropriate content gets seen by your students.
You can then message the student who created inappropriate content or talk to them directly to clarify the situation. No outside person can publish content to your private environment and you have full control over user accounts.
A: Yes. Once you have your account set up, you can group your students into groups. When creating video you assign it to a group and only these students will have access to the video. You can copy your video and assign it to a different group in order to keep all comments and interactions segregated.
A: With your registration information, you should have received a quick guide about the platform usage. For more information about our animation tools, you can watch our introduction demo here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UCOCJKGi6xY
A: Please use your private site address to login. It was sent to you along with your account confirmation email. Click on it and it will guide you to the login page. If you lost your confirmation email, do not hesitate to write to us at firstname.lastname@example.org to get a new one.
A: It is likely that you have logged into the administrator’s account, which is to be used for administrative purpose only. If you want to create characters and videos, please use your teacher’s account. Using a teacher or student account, a “Create” link is available in the left-hand side navigation.
A: To add students simply login using your teacher’s or administrator’s account. On the landing page, you will see an “add new” button right below the student title. Click on it and you will see a form for adding your students on the bottom of the page. You can add as many students as your school quota allows. If you ran out of quota, contact your school admin and send us an email at email@example.com to ask for additional accounts.
A: It is quite easy to do so. Simply login as a teacher or an administrator and go to the page of the video you would like to embed. You should see an “embed” button right below the player. Click on it and a popup with the embed code will show up. Copy the code and paste it into any webspace you would like to publish to. The video player will automatically show up on your webspace. If it does not work, make sure your webspace allows Flash embeds.
A: When you are logged in as a teacher, go to your account settings tab and select “Manage Groups” on top of the page. There you can press the ”Add new group” button to add a group, name it and include the students you want. The group is automatically saved as you enter the information. You can also use the “Set permissions” link on the right side to control moderation rules.
